During Stintzi?s athletic career as a Badger, he put up quite a resume. At Wisconsin Stintzi was a seven-time All-American and twice he was one spot away from winning a championship. In 1978 he and his Badger teammates were runner up in the distance-medley relay and in 1979 he finished second in the two-mile run. As a professional Stintzi was a member of 4 US national teams before he tried his hand in coaching. Success on the track quickly turned to success as a coach for Stintzi who coached at Michigan State for 20 years where he had 38 All-Americans and nine times lead his teams to nationals in cross country. Since taking over in 2004 at his alma mater Stintzi has vaulted the Badgers to the top of the NCAA. In only his third year in Madison his women took home a trophy with a fourth place finish at the 2006 NCAA cross country championships. |
