Matt Tegenkamp, who will represent the US in the 5k Next week at the World Championships, talks last fall about the great 2006 summmer he had. Matt's 2007 has proved 2006 was not a fluke but he will want to cap the season off in Osaka.

Only one year after he graduated from Wisconsin, Tegenkamp rose to the top of US distance running. After years of battling injuries, the 2006 season was a dream season for Tegenkamp as he was finally able to put in consistent training. Persistent dedication combined with lessons learned during the Wisconsin years paid off big time in 2006; Tegenkamp opened eyes not only stateside, but all over the globe. After his 13:04 for the 5,000m in Stockholm, Tegenkamp can almost taste a sub-13 minute 5,000m. He also achieved his best 3,000m finish with a 7:34?..all of these during the summer of 2006.
