Girls Footlocker 5k Finish : Speakers & Interviews

That was a crazy finish. They were really moving!

I just spent some time talking about Shelby Greany in this Foot Locker Championship race (see below) and this week she has set a new national record in the womens 2K steeple. At the Cornwall Steeplefest (near the United States Military Academy at West Point) she ran a 6:33.7 in her first steeple event of this season. Wow!
Looking at the freeze-frame of the video above, a picture is worth a thousand words. Hasay, Brasovan, and Shelby Greany all chasing down Allie McLaughlin (they are flying) near the end of the Foot Locker Championship Race. Shelby finished 7th, right behind Allie and Kathy Kroeger.

Man, the more I watch this the more respect I have for McLaughlin and Brasovan. Take Jordan out of the equation and they still ran a championship race. Another stand out is Shelby Greany from Suffern, NY. I think she's been there every year. I remember her back when the NE Team included Blood, Ferguson, Davidson, Lane, Ryan, etc. She was just a rookie Freshman then and could hold her own with that super-squad. She's signed with Providence, joining back up with Foot Locker teammate Hannah Davidson (both are excellent steeplechasers). As my mom, a 27-year Teamsters Union worker, would say, "She's got a mouth like a truck driver!" Shelby's an entertaining interview. Seriously! You guys will love her.
