In every level that he has competed, Bairu has dominated cross-country; as a junior he won the 2001 Canadian cross country champion. Bairu has won 5 straight Canadian cross titles and there is no sign he might loose one anytime soon. In college, his success has continued; he won two NCAA titles in 04 and 05. Bairu and Wisconsin finished second three years in a row until 2005 when he won the individual title and led the Badgers to the team victory with the NCAA cross championship. During his tenure at Wisconsin, Bairu earned 7 All-American certificates---three in cross and four in track. His best finish in track was third in the 10k in both 2004 and 2006. |
