I'm sorry but these rankings suck lol. texas and duke belong nowhere near the top 5. except for ahearn and maybe white for texas those schools got a bunch of duds. puskedra alone at oregon is better than duke. wisonsin is the clear number 3 with finnerty, darling, and smoody. nc state should be 5. the true order: stanford, ok state, wisco, princeton, nc state.

Syracuse should easily be top 5.

Anonymous Coward June 23, 2008 at 10:27am.
I agree with Spencer UCSB has the most underated recruiting class.. they will be solid next yr, but good job David.
#87
Clark's Coach June 19, 2008 at 10:26pm.
Stephen Clark ran 4:13 for the full mile at Golden West after a return of his mono soon after placing 12th in FL natl's. He should be ready to run XC this fall if he stays healthy. He runs 1:55 for the 800 with no track work at that distance.
#86
Paul Snyder June 18, 2008 at 6:18pm.
for UT, it's Lorin Wilson, not Wilson Lorin.
#85
Jeff Dolan June 18, 2008 at 10:02am.
Syracuse is going to much improved next year, as was noted by May5kFly.
#84
Indiana Love June 18, 2008 at 9:46am.
Princeton also is brining in Sean Wilson, who ran 4:12 in the 1600 as a junior.
#83
PC June 18, 2008 at 7:00am.
Finnerty to Wisco
Providence for the girls, should be in there.
#82
Dan Knewitz June 17, 2008 at 11:28pm.

Does anyone know where Rob Finnerty out of Minnesota is going?
I was fortunate enough to be at the Midwest Distance Gala this past Friday where he ran that 4:01.09 full mile. I almost puked.

Jeez You Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 17, 2008 at 11:08pm.
SYRACUSE is coming!!!
#80
May5kFly June 17, 2008 at 10:15pm.
in the first sentence i said one i mean on. they should be 5
#79
May5kFly June 17, 2008 at 10:14pm.
I think syracuse should be one there. they had the 3rd best runner in the nation last year with murdock and this year are bringing the number 1 and 3 runners from new york. they are a team looking from the outside in as well but are making taking steps that will get them in the big pictue.

Sorry David but, his name is pronounced "Lorin Wilson" not Wilson Lorin". He's a good friend of mine I'll make sure he doesn't take offense.
#74
XXXCV June 17, 2008 at 4:57pm.
Dylan Ferris was NOT the cross country state champ in North Carolina. He IS, however, consecutive champ in the outdoor 800/1600...so that says something.
#73
Stephan June 17, 2008 at 3:01pm.
I believe Princeton is also bringing in Richard Kerney, from De La Salle Highschool, in Concord California. He is an extremely talented sprinter. I know this because I happen to go to De la Salle
#72

good work, maybe in the future try to set up a prompter or something to avoid the "uh" -- but other than that, very well done.

SYRACUSE.
#65
Spencer June 17, 2008 at 1:06am.
i think that uc santa barbara should take over the 5th spot instead of duke becuase they have a 9:08, 4:13,4:16, 1:53, 1:54, 5-6 guys at 9:20-9:25. they have way more depth than duke for sure plus the front runners to boot.
#64

This is one of their best cles in years.
Where would you rank the University of Alabama's men's team? They have signed a large contingent of distance runners to include Aaron Stocksdell and Girma Mecheso.

Props June 16, 2008 at 5:54pm.
Benjo did make the footlocker national squad (his junior year, and placed 6th there). He choose to go to NTN and help out his team this year over footlocker = huge team player. 24:41 for 8k at US cross, 4:16 mile his junior year at altitude... . The NTN/footlocker dilemma is not cool, but benjo is.
#55
Uh Duh? June 16, 2008 at 5:43pm.

hell no, German runs in Nor*Cal and represents the San Juaquin section
#52
S'Mac June 16, 2008 at 4:37pm.

But I thought he did a nice job. Rehearse or do a few takes and it would markedly improve an already good and informative video.
I read the comments before watching the video, so I was primed for a lot of "uhs." And then I chuckled when I did watch it.

Asdf June 16, 2008 at 4:36pm.
and I even forgot Joe Stilin from WI. not sure on his track pr's.
#50
Mark From Flotrack June 16, 2008 at 4:35pm.
He is a West Coast Kid so there was no bias.... I did not pay him to say Texas I swear.
Man....... D Will! Stirring the pot here. Some people are roasting you but its cool, thats how it goes. Looking forward to next weeks show.
#49
Joe June 16, 2008 at 4:31pm.
idk about cross. But watch out for the Tennessee freshman in track!!!
#48
Asdf June 16, 2008 at 4:23pm.
Missing two on the Princeton cl. Tyler King (MN) 1:54/4:17 and Trevor VanAckaren (PA) 1:54/4:16... shows the strength of the cl when flotrack doesn't even deem them worthy of mention in light of the big three.
#47
Um June 16, 2008 at 4:23pm.
jk it wasnt that bad...good material though man

#43
Footlocker Squad June 16, 2008 at 1:43pm.
the reason ben johnson didn't make the "footlocker national squad" is because he elected to run NTN instead, it wasn't because he just didn't qualify i'm sure he would've if he went to west region instead of ntn.

You guys should check out Washington States recruiting cl. A Foot Locker Nationalist, a 1:50 800 guy, and about 10-12 others who are all sub 1:55/sub 4:20/or sub 9:20 guys.
#39
JLF June 16, 2008 at 12:41pm.
Andrew Perkins from Wisconsin??? 1:49 800 m, and 4:11 mile. This kid is gonna be huge in college. hes going to Northern Iowa I believe. but I dont know how their recruiting cl is.
#38
Ssss June 16, 2008 at 12:32pm.
Gibson (going to Texas) has run 9:17y indoors as a junior after the 4x800 and 4:15y as a senior.
#37
Kevin June 16, 2008 at 12:18pm.
xc 5k's are not their 5k pr's. all the courses are different, some long, some short so you can throw those times out the window. just stick to places and track times. and duke at #5??? that is not that great of a recruiting cl. you could put oregon ahead of them because they got 1 guy in puskedra who can contribute immediately and potentially even be AA. none of the duke guys can do that, if they get all conference they would be doing well.
#36
Julian Duarte June 16, 2008 at 12:01pm.
Yeah I counted 47 at 7:02 but then quit because i actually wanted to pay attention to what he was saying other than...."and uhhh". But all in all it was good, sort of like a ESPN SportsCenter for running.
#35
Garrett Reim June 16, 2008 at 12:00pm.
David I thought it was awesome. Some quality research buddy! Keep it up. Was Sethward behind the camera?

Syracuse...4 footlocker guys
#33
Good Show June 16, 2008 at 11:08am.
Hey this was awsome i thought it was a great show, and i hope you keep doing it......just try not to say "uhh" and "umm" after everything, i know thats probably hard because i would probably be doin the same thing
#32
CJ Jessett June 16, 2008 at 10:43am.
well if this was meant to cover the teams with the most valuable recruits than OSU should've been number one...even with only three coming in they return their top 5 from cross next year...and the three coming in outweigh any other school especially since two of them are top 5 in the nation...and to the guy below me wisconsin gets about one good guy this year
#31
Afdfa June 16, 2008 at 9:47am.

also, there is no way texas is #3 for xc. those guys are good track runners but for a 10k they ARE NOT #3, maybe top 6-7.
syracuse, nc state and wisconsin could all arguably be on the list.
#30
Drew Kogut June 16, 2008 at 9:42am.
i love how he's listing all these times for guys 5k's and chris derrick has most of them by a minute+
#29
Fadfdf June 16, 2008 at 9:41am.

joe stilin (wi) - 5th wi xc states
this is an awesome idea and i hope you keep focusing more on college xc teams and their recruiting cles. college xc is awesome and to have like a weekly feature on that would be sweet. also princeton has these guys in addition to their big 3:
trevor vanackeran (pa)
tyler king (mn)-8th place mn 2a xc- lost to finnerty by 33s
#28
Uhhhhh June 16, 2008 at 9:39am.
uhhh um uhh umm ... I really appreciate the rankings, but just try to rehearse next time.
#27

kaulbach didn't win states in XC in PA...he didn't race at states...he isn't allowed to.
#26
DUDE June 16, 2008 at 8:36am.
I counted 156 Um's and Uh's.. That isn't even counting the And's.. Good job though David, just try to clean up the Um'sss and be sure of what you are going to say next time you do this so it looks more professional. Oh and Colby Lowe has run 4:06
#25
Rump Roast June 16, 2008 at 8:33am.
uhhh you missed uhhhhh...OREGON
#24
Seriously? June 16, 2008 at 8:31am.
Three are D3 schools that bring in recruiting cles similar to what you have up there for Duke.
#23
Dylan Ferris June 16, 2008 at 8:27am.
i am not sure he will run a great 8k but kid is a beast half miler.
#22

Syracuse! Get real. Third at worst.
#21
Broadcast June 16, 2008 at 7:29am.
This guy needs some high school broadcast journalism cles. How many times can you say "uh" in a sentence? I applaud the effort and idea but the execution is poor. Maybe practice a little and cut out the "uh" and "um" that you have going on. I uh think uh that uh you uh should uh practice.
#20
Anonymous Coward June 16, 2008 at 7:11am.
I liked this but I felt it was about 9 minutes too long. I found myself fast forwarding through it simply to get the top 5 and see their people then moving on.
#19
Wilson Lorin June 16, 2008 at 7:07am.
haha I think his name is Lorin Wilson. Other than that, awesome show.

Big Surprise... June 16, 2008 at 7:02am.
you guys are covering Texas??? I can't imagine why. The impartiality is staggering. I doubt there is any agenda by all the blatent Texas coverage. C'mon guys, let's be fair.
#16
Gr A S S Roots June 16, 2008 at 6:59am.
that las post should have read g r a s s roots, not grroots. Ah, gotta love the new flotrack filter.
#15
DII Or DIII June 16, 2008 at 6:58am.
why don't you guys cover all 3 divisions? if this is TRULY grroots then it makes A LOT of sense to give as much coverage as possible. Thanks.
