- See Less -Christian Cantwell his one of the best if not the best shot putter in the world to not have competed in the Olympics yet. 2004 was filled with ups and downs. The year started off great as he won the World indoor championship but injuries and fatigue set in and he did not make the US team that headed to Athens. After passing through pain of missing the 2004 Olympic team for shot put, Christian Cantwell forged a deliberate path to the exhilaration of edging further out on the tape measure; he gauges his form, his strength and his fitness all by that inanimate standard of truth---the tape measure reading. This belief---along with his successful collegiate record of seven?time All American, six-time Big 12 Champion, 17-time all Big 12, and holder of the Missouri record for indoor and outdoor shot put and weight throw---is what Cantwell exudes as a coach for Mizzou Tigers. Cantwell?s post-collegiate performance has the tape measure proclaiming him having The Longest Throw in the World for Outdoor (73-11 ¼ in 2004) and The Longest Throw in the World for Indoor (72-1/4 in 2004). Christian is currently training in Columbia and is helping out with the Mizzou track team. It is clear that one of the major advantages Cantwell has in coaching is that he has been there, had ?off times?, and made adjustments to come back for another face off with the tape measure?.if Cantwell has done it, other Mizzou Tigers can get in step right next to him.
