I am a junior in high school in Tampa FL and I wanted you to know that you are an inspiration to me. I admire the way that you go about your business without all of the fan fare of athletes like Kara and Shalane. Good luck and I hope that you continue to improve so that you can bring home a medal next time.

Way to go Desiree! You showed maturity in controlling the pace and negative splitting that race. 11th at Worlds is awesome!

Don't run too many marathons. Save your talent for races that really count.

He'll take you up, he'll bring you down,
He'll plant your feet back firmly on the ground.
He flies so high, he swoops so low,
He knows exactly which way he's gonna go.

WOW! What an incredible achievement! Best wishes for continued improvement and success. You looked superb, steady and always in control on the Universal Sports coverage (you were shown at least three times, and each time the commentators noted the unique work it is to run alone, rather than working with a chase group.)

What a gracious comment regarding nearly catching Kara at the end, after she faded from "knocking heads with the leaders." Your record, your youth and your attitude show that there are great things in store for you in the near future. Thanks also for engaging a complete stranger in conversation at last year's Detroit Free Press Marathon expo.
Best of luck with everything that's coming, but in the meantime, enjoy Europe and a much deserved rest!

Great job Desi! Huge PR, top 11 in the world! It seems like you are starting to replicate what Brian did on the men's side at Hansons in dropping huge chunks of time and starting to place high up at Worlds. 2012 Olympic team is a realistic possibility.
