That's it! That's all he does for weights. I'm in the wrong event. Dude was acting like he was power lifting tons of weight. I'm an old fart distance runner and can throw that around like nothin'. He must make up for it with killer technique in the vault.
Happy New Year Brian and Ryan
and having a distance runners "weight workout" would probably not be terribly common. I've read that some of the pros don't even get into the weight room except for core work. There was one flotrack did with Sarah Jamieson and then there was the Lukezic Workout. Both in Season 1. Check those out.
Most strength training sessions for runners are usually circuit training sessions which is based off the strength and endurance concept, so it is best to complete one lift set before moving to the next set, then you would usually repeat the process all over again. This was also probably the reason why he was wearing a heart rate monitor. I mean you can change it up however you feel but thats just usually the idea behind circuit training (it looked as if he circuit trained a certain muscle group before moving to a different circuit but that could also be from editing), but I have never attempted the pole vault so I couldn't tell you if PV strength training is better by circuit training or by heavier weight sessions like sprinters.
Also, thank you Flotrack for showing a weightroom workout. I love analyzing this as well as the Trey Hardee workout. I'd love to see a mid-distance or distance runner's weightroom workout. Maybe in the future?
