Last year when Webb was in his 1:43.85 shape, he could have managed a sub-22 200. Who are we kidding? Of all distance runners last year, he was the best sprinter during his 1:43 shape.

it saddens me to see webb run from the back in the past few races he has been in, it seems hes not as confident as he has been in the past. I still think he'll go 1:44 and 3:30ish this year though, possibly getting ready for something bigger like the 5k? 12:59 anyone?

Webb definitely couldn't run sub 22. He's got a bit of a bite at the end of (some) races, but let's get serious... sub 22 for a 200 is freakin fast and he's a middle distance runner, not a sprinter... not even close.

webb represents most americans in united states. that pure unexpected inconsistency that all runners hate to acknowledge

Are you serious? firstly 21 is all that some quality 400m runners can muster to put that into perspective, I think Alan would do well to run a 22 point maybe only a 23 flat. And the fastest he's ever come through 400m in an 800 was 49.71 from Heusden last year.

To anyone, what do you think Alan Webb could run the 200m dash in if he actually came out of the blocks and took it seriously. I'm just interested to know. I would guess that he could go about 21 something considering i've seen him out in 48.0s 400m in an 800m before.

I just hate to see Webb running like this. Such a big fan.. I just hope that he gets things back together, cause I know we all miss the old Webb...

He goes out in 53 and does not even better his dog crap PB for 2008. How is that a positive step? (I'm a fan too.)

I think it all has to do with confidence which hopefully after efforts like this, he slowly manages to get back.

I respect Webb and would definitely consider myself a fan, but why has he been running from the back of races lately. He looked solid in the prelims of the trials then he ran anchor in the final and came up short. I don't know his training plan and strategy, but it seems he has more success running from the front. Thoughts?

This is definately a positive step for Alan. He finally looked like he had something in his legs for the final push.
