max gerten is right. Americans always seems to choke in true championship racing. He is still America's greatest marathoner in a long while. He does have a shot, he's gone up against the very best in 2 london marathons already and done well. wish him the best

Hall may not have a great chance at a gold medal, but he is the best shot America has had since Frank Shorter in the 70's.

" Pull your head out of your butt . . . "

There you go again, trying to impress people by quoting scripture. That must be from the OLD testament -- you know, the version that told you when to stone your children, before that became politically incorrect.

I became aware of running in the early eighties when a young guy by the name of Salazar was getting people excited in Oregon, and I remember how cool it was to have a running hero you could be proud of and try to emulate. I beleive that if nothing else, Ryan will be that possitive influance for thousands of young runners just becoming aware of the sport. Exciting times! Good luck bro, and thanks for putting out a clean, possitive image.

mhs-xc, with the way Ryan is improving and dropping almost a minute off each successive marathon, it is no stretch of the imagination to see him with a chance to win at mile 25 of the olympics. He has the drive, the patience, the consistency. All he needs now is the finish, which you can bet he will be working like hell to achieve in the next four months. Way to go, Ryan. Keep on keeping on.

I love Hall as much as the next American, but I do not see how people can be so confident in Hall's ability to win the Olympics when he finishes 5th in London against guys he will be racing at the Olympics. Hall is going to be one of our great marathoners, but gold in bejing is no guarantee.

Good old digital TV in London so I selected to just watch the men's race. It was absolutely intense. Seeing Ryan battle back after going out of touch for a few miles was incredible. Fair play to the lad, he has a great career ahead of him.

Hall's fifth place 2:06.17 in the London Marathon is truly remarkable, and should make every American proud. The hot and humid conditions in Beijing will be terrible, so he should train during the upcoming months in similar weather. I hope he avoids injury in the meantime.

Wow. 2:06-low off of a too fast start and lots of surges. This kid was READY! He seems to learn and mature with every race. I may be an atheist personally, but I can fully respect the quality of Ryan's spirit and his love of running. Good luck in Beijing!

"Yes, God would have been with Ryan even if he bombed and Ryan would praise Him even then because Ryan knows what is eternal and what isn't."

I've never heard Hall blather on about his beliefs when he's lost. In fact, even today he wasn't evangelizing in the stretch the way he did at the Trials, even though he ran a PR. Maybe today he was TRULY humbled.
