This is an amazing video and i never get tired of it. Great editing and camera angles. Give the flotrack guys a break, come on they worked hard to bring us Olympic footage, they need rest like all runners do!

Great workout, and Lopez is going to be amazing in Beijing.
Can't wait to go to NAU!

Ukrunner May 25 at 4:52am.
I noticed the group always started together, surely that means either the fatsre guy was getting a larger recovery or the slower guys were not getting their 2 minutes? Solid session though!
#54
Fatdaddy May 17 at 10:42pm.
adw2325- Those were B skips, i'm sure they did A skips as well

Phillip James April 15 at 8:13am.
wow i do have to admit Lopez definitely has a chance for the Olympics this year. I mean must times since the late 40's were about 1:46.73 if you averaged the times on the fly, and at the Outdoor Championships I think he had ran a what, a 1:47? As for Rupp and Dougal that might be could competition, but Lopez has that end kick so we'll just have to see at what he does in 15 which he ran in the championship outdoor for NCAA in 3:43!
#52
Adam Ward April 12 at 12:29pm.
what is the drill are they doing in the beginning called? Is it an A-skip drill???

the coach says at the beginning that lopez should lower down his time toward the end if he feels good. right at the beginning.
#46
Brian_x January 31 at 8:58pm.
ok... the coach said they werent going out there to hammer, but to simply run fast and under control. which is training smart
#45
Greg Redhorse January 29 at 12:33am.

If your not tired after a workout, then it means you didnt work your body hard enough.
#43
Ok... December 24, 2007 at 10:48am.
if I do 10x400's and I have extra energy in the last 2, Im definitly laying it out there. I hate walking away from a workout feeling like I didnt lay it all out there.
#42
Bigsky November 19, 2007 at 12:44am.

As to "Effet" and "Wrong Season's" comments. I didn't see anybody "racing the 400s" in the workout, and since when did people peak by doing 10 x mile 10 tens before the Nationals???? I have found something common on the track websites(unfortunately)...usually the guys who don't put their names up...never focused...never put it on the line...and remain (anonymously) without a without a clue!!!!! Predication- Lopez to win; the best coached team (Lananna and Oregon) to take team title.
#38
Effet His November 18, 2007 at 4:34pm.
bet they lose come monday cause who cares how fast they do 400's. Its all about the 10k baby
#37
Wrong Season November 18, 2007 at 1:57pm.

Jason Pedersen November 18, 2007 at 1:35pm.
To Wondering... this workout was on Tuesday and was the last "hard" workout they did before nationals.

Martin Brown November 18, 2007 at 12:13pm.
Lopez Lomong is one of the great human beings in our sport which is full of them. I had the pleasure of meeting him in High school, and then again last June in Indianapolis. His story is a great one. We will be rooting for him and his teammates, and it is going to be a great National race with Oregon, Iona, and others!!!! The video was a good one depicting the simplicity and relaxed, yet purposeful nature of their workout focus.
#34
Wondering November 18, 2007 at 10:45am.
Anyone have any idea when they would have done this workout, surely they didn't do the workout 2 days before nationals? Would it be something like a couple weeks?

I'm really looking forward to seeing Lopez race -- he's got huge talent and still seems really down to earth. Cool stuff.
#24
Agreed November 17, 2007 at 5:33pm.
yeah i agree, lopez is a wrap if he stays healthy to do big things in either the 8 or the 15 but idk if he'll be able to stick w/ rupp or dougal, well see, i hope so.

#19
Curtis Holt November 17, 2007 at 3:41pm.
Well Lopez was down right dirty in that workout. Expect huge things from him this year in the 1500 cause that was a bread and butter workout for him at that sort of distance. The only thing Im not sure about still is he can last 10km with McDougal and Rupp, because that workout showed that he's going to be the NCAA 1500m champ again but Im not sure how much it means over 10km when speed endurance is second to overall strength that someone like Galen and Josh have built up over the years.

Luke Sykora November 17, 2007 at 3:40pm.
wow, that just made me want to go to NAU

What a great workout video! If I was of college age and wanted to become the best distance runner I could be, NAU and Flagstaff would be the place. With the combination of 7K altitude and miles and miles of soft trails, Flagstaff is a distance runners nirvana. Wish I was 18 again...

they're last yars shorts, so they aren't too hard to get considering abdi and lagat both live in flagstaff and i think they know each other pretty well. lomong is definately wearing the lanang, a lot of people think is a good spike for xc.
