the 0nli pers0n here wh0 i think hnestly n0's what they are talking ab0ut is c0mmen sense... leading a race isn the 0nli way an athelete can test his b0undaries an abiltity he can sh0w his talent an limits thrugh the pe0ple he beats t0 the line. s0 the 0nli half athlete is see her is j0sh carr u little n0 n0thin F**k
josh carr...shut up. quit your pants. we get great athletes like wheating and symmonds and people like you have no respect for what they do. you're telling others they are what's wrong with the sport as you sit here ing about crap like front running? just shut up. track needs respect for every athlete..i doubt Tevan Everett was crying about wheating winning while he lead from the front...so just stop. you're annoying.
The 800 is notoriously tactical, so I wouldn't call someone intelligent enough to avoid leading wire-to-wire a half athlete. I would agree that Symmond's and Wheating's kicking styles render themselves better to the NCAA than the IAAF.
People who race tactically aren't half-athletes. People who take the lead and then cry about competitors exploiting their inexperience are half-witted. If you are so good, you should be able to make a devastating move in the lead (think Bekele in Beijing.)
When I was in high school, I found it obnoxious when some wannabe would surge to the front and then mismanage the pace for his 15 seconds of fame. HEY MOM I'M LEADING! I hope all those pictures with me lurking on their shoulder look as good as the medals I earned after the snapshots.
Everyone cashes in their chips at some point in a race. You can expend your resources for that burst to the front at any point in the race. You might as well do it when it matters.
i dont get the complaints. If wheating would have been the frontrunner today, he probably would have lost. Someone like Tevan Everett would have won and you would be hating on him then, right?
I hated on Khadevis because he is slow and everyone rides his di_ck. And I already addressed strategy being used in a championship race. U r kinda copying me, so like Bob, GTFO the earth.
Umm didnt Wheating go make the Olympic Team and Just win the NCAA title.
Doesnt matter if you win the olympics or break the world record 50 years from now no one will remember them.
Plus you said Wheating hasn't pushed his limits...have you checked his pr's???
The guy you wanted to didnt so now your pissed. He won the race get over it. He's pushed his limits in other races, there is only one goal in a championshiop race and thats to WIN you idiot. So STFU and GTFO the internet.
ABC, you are what is wrong with the sport. You and thousands of other runners who let their respect for runners get in the way of healthy criticism. I have a voice. You have a voice. Use it. If only the elites speak on running, which there are only a few, then no one will be able to talk. EPSN wouldn't exist because only the elites are allowed a voice. Nonsense! You need to understand that one can love what others are doing, as well as have hate for what others are doing. Your ignorance of criticism is analogous to telling the president of the United States he can do no wrong becuase he was a elected to the greatest political position. Without political analysts and others who criticize, he could do as much wrong as possible without even a slight flinch in the eyes of America. I tell you all that so that you for yourself can see how Track and Field is different from any other competition in america, no matter the sport or contest. We, in track and field, respect runners too much to offer advice. I mean goddammn, look at Alan Webb; someone should be telling his recently slow rump something right now. I mean Track isn't that popular as other sports in America for ESPN to have a "What in the World is Wrong with Alan Webb" segment, but someone should be able to blog and offer a critique without the dissenting criticism that you are not that great yourself. You track guys have like some kind of cult. And that is where the sport is staying -- in your little faction(fraction) of America. To be honest with you, I don't even run track. I like to watch track because I marvel at the human body's limits and the ability of some to push those limits. Running off others is pushing other people's limits. And anyone who sits in every race is a loser. I can understand champioship races, but I don't think Andrew Wheating will ever see his true potential because he indeed sits in every race. Now, read this while you can becuase it is inevitable that this is going to be removed seeing as Flotrack moderaters view me as a troll. I am not a troll. I am merely a fan of Track and Field. To run me away from the sport is to beg, in the face of economic collapse and fan-base adversity, to not have any real fans at all.

Agree wit Carr, you never see these guys do anything at World's or Olympics because they are "sitters". Wheating, Christian, and Symmonds got blasted in bejing because they couldn't handle four or five guys coming through 400 in 50secs. Everett has a ways to go, but he is doing it the right way and improving rapidly! I'll be watching for you Everett!
"Running off of other people," huh? Some of you guys truly amaze me. Didn't a guy named Yuriy B win a gold medal in the 800 in 2004 that way? Isn't the whole POINT of racing to win?
Josh Carr, you need to get to maybe even 1/1000th of the level of them then talk. Wheating went out at 51. Just because he runs smarter than other people don't hate.
I hate Andrew Wheating and Nick Symmonds. They will never be great running off of other people. It used to nag the hell out of me in high school when little half-athletes sat on me. German, Wilson, & El Gourraj can all run from the front and that is why they get records. Tevan Everett is also a front runner and I think the states are in store for some great talent when he gets signed.
