Rupp’s collegiate career at the University of Oregon started out with a bang as he broke the 10,000m record in 27:33.48. In 2006, he became the 10th Oregon runner to win a Pac-10 title. Rupp finished second to lead the Oregon Ducks to the 2007 NCAA Men’s cross-country team championship.
Other career highlights include a 2005 USA Junior Cross Country championship, record holdings in U.S. Junior 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m, and a runner-up in the 2007 USA Outdoor competition.
definitely has a shot at the AR in the outdoor 5k this year. which would be bad ass.
He went sub-4 for the first time in his career this indoor season, 3:57. Let's face it 5K-10K guys don't normally carry that much speed. But Galen gets to run an occasional 800 or 1500. I think that gives him an edge. 27:30's for a 10K, 13:18 5K indoors this year, and 3:57 - 3:58's miles from the same guy is a little unbelievable.
