German was never entered in the 5k at Regions. And there is no 10k at Regions.

Well, I was wondering if something happened in the 15 that prevented him from running the 5k like an injury or something. But looking at the finals of the 15 it appears he is just fine. I knew he was unable to run at nats if he did not run the regional 5k. Although, I would have loved to see a Rupp, Derrick, Mead (yes Hassan Mead), and German 5k and see German steal the 5k Junior record from Derrick.

You have to qaulify for regionals to run at nationals. I think the only event with an exception is the 10k. Otherwise, every athlete that qaulified would not run at this meet becuase it'll be like a last-chance meet.

Why do you think German stuck with his best event? German and his coaches are going for somthing big. He's fast in the 5000 but he has too many competitors. Running the 15 allows his to focus on that race. I read on the Oklahoma website that he was only focusing on the last 300 of the race in which he aimed to split 39. Track is about to feel the likes of a runner it has not felt before. I can say with 100 percent certainty that someone in his race will go sub 3:40 tommorrow. German is not even guranteed to win. So even though it seems like more points to run both events, think about it. He expands all his energy in 5k to get like 4th if he's lucky and then he is tired at 15 finals and gets like third. But no, he gets first at nationals and brings in a big 10 points for Oklahoma. German's coach is both ambitious and genius.

Anyone know why German didn't run 5k at the midwest regionals? Was he not planning on running it or did something happen in the 15? Saw his 15 time was slow but I'm assuming that it was due to a slow qualification heat so he just ran to qualify as he still won the heat in relatively easy fashion as it looks.
