that was a sick kick for sure. I mean, he was cruising with those other two and then it was like, "hey, i can definately beat these two. let's kick it into 5th gear."
Here is the other possible kick of the week. Both great races. You decide what you think:

If you knew Peter, you'd know why there are this many posts. He's literally THE nicest guy you've ever met, and the best runner we've ever seen. He definitely has plenty of fans who are posting on this page. Plus who has time to sit and add comments to flotrack all day?
She is good, but they jogged the first lap. Zebo Zebe went 54 in the first 400m. Peter was 5m back with 200m to go and had a 10m lead 100m later. That is pretty amazing acceleration. Three guys break the state record. By the way, check out a great picture of the finish at http://www.dyestatil.com
Great kick but this kid was only a couple strides back so he didn't have to make much up. If you want the kick of the week, check out Becca Friday in the girls 1600m at the Washington 2A state meet. She comes back from more than 20m and wins by 10m. Possibly the kick of the year.
Mark and Ryan - I have never seen a more outstanding kick than Peter Callahans in the finals of the 800 in the IHSA meet yesterday. He just seemed to fly!!!!!!
Not only are you incorrect, but you are a gosh darn fool. For your ridiculous comment, you should be eaten.
As an old pro, (ran the 1600 in the '89 Olympics for US), I would definitely say this is top 3 best kicks I have ever seen, in my whole life, ever.
Ever.
This should win. It is beautiful. He turns it on and gets those twin pistons pumping like crazy.
Stay thirsty my friends.
Kick of the week!
While I appreciate your enthusiasm about the race, there were no Olympics in '89, nor is there a 1600 in the Olympics.

This just shows what the great Greek Gods were like when they ran races, this is a fantastic kick, coming from third like a lightning bolt shooting out of Zeus finger tips. this should be the kick of the week, because it shows a great athlete at work.
Definitely kick of the week. Typical Peter Callahan finish. Turn on the afterburners, shift to hyper-drive, fly past the competition the last 200 meters.
I was there and Peter had a similar kick in the 1600 but I didn't see a video of that race. This should probably be kick of the week because of the outcome.
Peter's kick this weekend in the 800 was the most impressive that I've seen since Nick Wetherby at D3 nationals. Some may know, some may not but it's really very rare to see a kick that strong after 600m of "sprinting". Make this race the kick of the week, amazing performances from the 1A field.
knight said: Ryan, if you were there, you would agree. Take a look at the Class A 1600m too. I would say the 800m is kick of the week because the top 3 guys all ran great and broke Zach Glavash's state record. Peter, though, finishes like no one I have ever seen outsied of maybe Wheating or Wottle. Given the way all the guys ran, the stakes on the line, the fact that 3 guys broke the state record, and the way Peter finished -- this should be the kick of the week. Thanks for considering it.
thanks for the background, great info. i wasn't ruling anything out though, don't think that... just clarifying.

Guys:
Now it's time to name another great 800 performance. Ryan and Mark, it's a "Tasty Kick"! You blew the Kick of the Week a week ago when you didn't name Andrew Wheating's 800 at the Pac10 meet...this one is of equal quality and it's a STATE RECORD!
Peter Callahan is AWESOME he should sooooooo be the kick of the week. I was there and he had already run another 800 beforehand. He blew away the competition !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright alright everyone. You've all got your wish...
I was there! This was awesome! Talk about a kick!!

Wetherby was the kid who was always out of my reach in college - both all americans, slightly different running strengths.
peter keeps posting under different names to make this kick of the week.

I think the crowd's reaction to Callahan's kick was possibly more apparent during the 1600m.
