I have also had the opportunity to meet Fernandez as his substitute teacher. He really is as nice as he seems. He is friendly and down-to-earth, and even humble for a guy who has earned his confidence and my respect. I look forward to his achieving his collegiate goals, and hopefully see him in the Olympics someday. reply

	JaredR June 21, 2008 at 3:41am Oh yeah, there's no good reason why he can't be the next freshman to win NCAA XC. Bob Kennedy did it and Adam Goucher took second as a freshman. It may not be something to bet on but it's certainly in the realm of possibility. reply
	JaredR June 21, 2008 at 3:39am This guy isn't a y guy. Of guys I've seen break major records or win major races, German seems maybe the most humble and down to earth about it as I've ever seen. It's part of how I know he has a huge future. He broke a legendary, long-standing record but he doesn't look like he thinks he deserves it, or the accolades that come with it. I sense that he feels there is still endless work to be done. He has the heart of champion! reply
