Could Walter Dix's NCAA record be in jeopardy? Alabama's Tarsis Orogot might have something to say about that.

It was only a month ago that Alabama's Tarsis Orogot clocked a career-best 200 meter performance at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in 19.90 seconds.

He wasn't done.

On Saturday at the SEC Outdoor Championships, Orogot, the 21-year-old Ugandan college junior, ran the third-fastest performance in collegiate history for 200 meters, clocking a wind-legal time of 19.75 seconds.

Nearly a year ago, Orogot finished fourth in the 200m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, registering a wind-legal time of 19.94 seconds. He followed that a few months ago with another fourth-place finish indoors at NCAAs, hitting 20.46 seconds on the dial.

With the meet near its conclusion in Gainesville on Saturday, Orogot ripped off a winning time that proceeded to land into the record books. Only Walter Dix (19.69) and Divine Oduduru (19.73) have gone faster all-time, and Dix last ran his NCAA record in 2007.

Florida's Wanya McCoy was second in 19.93 seconds.

Orogot also finished fifth in the 100m in 10.06 and helped Alabama to a sixth-place finish in the 4x100.
