Girls 12-year-old 1500m, 3000m

Who: Taylor DeCook
When: 3000m Finals Saturday, 10:30 a.m. CT; 1500m Finals Sunday, 10:00 a.m. CT
Why: DeCook is entered with in the 1500 with a seed time of 4:47 and she ran 5:40 at her district championship meet . In addition to the 1500, DeCook will try her hand in the 3000m, which shouldn't be to big of a leap, seeing as the 12-year-old also runs middle school cross country. Taylor made both the 400m and 800m finals last year at National meet and in addition to the 1500 and 3k, she will again try her luck in the 400 meters this weekend in Decatur.

Girls 11-year-old 80m hurdles

Who: Aaliyah El Muhammad
When: 80m hurdles Prelims Saturday, 2:30 p.m. CT; 80m hurdles Finals Sunday, 11:30 a.m. CT
Why: Speed and strength run in the for Aaliyah El Muhammad. Her older brother is NFL running back and Ohio State MVP, Ezekiel Elliot! In addition to having a talented brother, both of her parents were college athletes at the University of Missouri-Dad played football and Mom was a heptathlete. Talk about great genes! Last year at the AAU National Championships she ran 29.45 in the 200m final. She also competed in long jump and high jump at Nationals, events that we will see her in this weekend as well.

Boys 11-year-old 100m, 200m

Who: Aric Johnson, Chase Hampton and Casey Richter
When: 100 m Prelims on Friday, 9:00 a.m. CT; Finals on Sunday 9:00 a.m. CT; 200m Prelims on Thursday, 1:00 p.m. CT ; 200m Finals on Saturday, 12:30 p.m. CT
Why: Johnson, Hampton and Richter were all at the AAU National Championships last year and seed times suggest the competition in Decatur -especially among the Flippen Flyer returners- could be tight! Fellow teammate Dominic Ball should also be in the mix for the 100m. Ball will join the veterans once again in the 200m but a duo from the Indiana Storm Track Club with the fastest seed times may rain on the Flyer's parade.

Boys 17-18 200m

Who: Colton Hayman
When: 200m Prelims on Thursday, 1:00 p.m. CT ; 200m Finals on Saturday, 12:30 p.m. CT
Why: This Boys 200m field is one of the largest of the entire meet. Colton Hayman of the Aurora Flyers Track Club is a favorite with his top seed time of 21.22 but right behind him is his teammate Aaron Harris who has run 21.60. Several other athletes in the field from Kentucky, Louisville, and Indiana could also give Hayman a run for his money.
