2017 has been the year of off-distance races.

Courtney Okolo ran 1:07.34 at the NYRR Millrose Games to break the American record in the indoor 500m. The mark is the third-fastest all-time, only behind Russians Olesya Krasnomovets and Olga Zaytseva back in 2006.

Okolo beat runner-up Alysia Montano--in her first race since the Olympic Team Trials--by over two seconds and closed in 28.59 for the final lap.

The 2016 Bowerman Award winner is three-for-three in wins this indoor season after taking the victory in the 300m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix and running 1:25.21 in the 600m in Lincoln, Nebraska.
