The Women's Race In Prague Will Be A World Record Attempt
So says Joyciline Jepkosgei, according to Kenyan newspaper The Star. The current half marathon world record is 65:06, run by Peres Jepchirchir last month. Jepkosgei ran 66:08 in that race. If you live in North America, you can watch her try to lower her PR by a minute live on FloTrack at 1:00 AM Pacific/4:00 AM Eastern on Saturday.

Jepkosgei said that "I am going to Prague to attempt the world record if all the conditions will be favorable. Weather, especially, is the most important factor and if it will be good, I will try a record there…My training has been well and my target is that special time improvement in the race. It will be a tough competition but I will do my best."

The weather is supposed to be good during the race, which is at 10:00 AM local time. And she's right that the competition will be tough. In addition to an in-form Jordan Hasay, the Prague field features defending champion Violah Jepchumba, whose 65:51 makes her the No. 4 performer of all time. (Jepkosgei is the No. 7 all-time woman.)

65:06 for 13.1 miles is 4:57.9 mile pace.
