UTEP Freshman Emmanuel Korir Runs 1:43.73 #2 NCAA All-Time
UTEP's Emmanuel Korir today ran the no. 2 all-time NCAA 800 in 1:43.73 at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge in Berkeley, California. Korir negative split his way into the record books running the first 400 in 52.48 and the second 400 in 51.25. Take a look at Korir's brief running career to date:

The UTEP freshman continues to turn heads in the running world. And based on his early success, it's not hyperbolic to compare him to David Rudisha, who went to the same high school. Korir is currently 21; here were then-21-year-old David Rudisha's personal bests by April 2010.

800m PB: 1:42.01
400m PB: 45.50

Obviously, by age 21, Rudisha had also established himself among the great runners in championship races, something Korir has yet to do. However, Korir's talent is clear evidence that he could be one of Kenya's star half-milers for many years to come.

Only three men in history have personal bests under 1:44 and 45.00. Korir is the youngest to do so...
