Top Five Performances Of The Week: Summer Track Season Rundown
Here are FloTrack's top five performances from the past week outside of the Diamond League and TrackTown Series.
With the summer track season in full swing, it can be difficult to follow all of the top performances around the world.
Here are FloTrack's top five performances from the past week outside of the Diamond League and TrackTown Series.
5) Turkey's Ramil Guliyev ran 9.97 (+1.5 m/s) at the European Club Championships--the third-fastest 100m time ever for a European.
4) Syracuse's Justyn Knight qualified for worlds for the first time after finishing second to Mo Ahmed in the Canadian National Championship 5K.
3) Kendra Harrison ran a new world lead of 12.28 (+0.1 m/s) in the 100m hurdles in Hungary.
2) Twenty-year-old Konstanze Klosterhalfen won the 1500 at the German Championships in 3:59, over 10 seconds faster than the runner-up.
1) A day after running a 13:49 5K, 16-year-old Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a 8:26 3K steeplechase in Kortrijk, Belgium. The latter time is a new unofficial world age group record for Ingebrigtsen and also under the IAAF world standard, meaning he could be selected by Norway to run the steeplechase at worlds.
BONUS PERFORMANCE:
Beer Mile world champion Corey Bellemore finished fourth in both the 800m and 1500m at the Canada National Championships. Bellemore has stated that he doesn't train for the beer mile. Clearly, his non-beer mile training has been working.
