2017 FloXC Countdown: #3 Adams State Women
Follow our 2017 FloXC Countdown, where FloTrack ranks the top ten cross country teams and individuals in the NCAA this season which will be LIVE on FloTrack. The No. 3 women's spot goes to Adams State, and here's why:

Probable Top Five:

SR Malena Grover (16:52 5K; 43rd at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Noel Prandoi (9:33 3K; 10th at '15 NCAA XC)
SO Kaylee Bogina (35:29 10K; 80th at '16 NCAA XC)
JR Sadie Baker (16:50 5K; 35:43 10K)
SO Eilish Flanagan (10:28 3K SC; 137th at '16 NCAA XC)

Analysis:

The Adams State women haven't missed out on the podium since 2000, the same year that ended their streak of eight consecutive national titles. Like the men's program, you can count on the Lady Grizzlies being a contender for the NCAA crown every year. And that's true once more of 2017's iteration, even with there being some question marks surrounding this roster. A program with such a rich history of success (16 NCAA XC titles) can be afforded a bit of faith despite the appearance of holes; Adams State reloads with their riches in a minute.

Four of the five scorers from last November's second-place team have graduated, which will certainly be a challenge for coach Damon Martin. There are no returning All-Americans from last fall. He does have a former conference champion and top-10 NCAA finisher returning in junior Noel Prandoni, but Prandoni missed last cross country season and wasn't back to running her usual times on the track this spring. She has a high ceiling, but remains a question mark nonetheless.

Fortunately for ASU, the rest of the projected top five includes ladies who are coming off solid track seasons. All four of Malena Grover, Kaylee Bogina, Sadie Baker, and Eilish Flanagan qualified for NCAA outdoor. They should provide stability to a roster undergoing so much turnover. This team may not have a lineup that jumps off the page quite like our top two squads, but Adams State has been too good for too long to have me doubt their ability to reach the podium once again.
