Parker Valby Smashes NCAA Indoor 5000m Record At BU Season Opener
Parker Valby of Florida smashed the NCAA record in the 5000m, running 14:56.11 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
Fresh off winning the NCAA Cross-Country Championship, Parker Valby of Florida wasted little time making an impact on the opening weekend of the indoor track season, smashing the NCAA record in the 5000m, running 14:56.11 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
In just her third indoor race ever, Valby became the first woman ever to break 15 minutes in the event during collegiate competition.
Her time, the fastest she has covered the distance indoors or outdoors, broke the previous record of 15:12.22 set in 2015 by Providence’s Emily Sisson.
