Four Americans will race the marathon distance for the first time at the 2025 NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 2. Hillary Bor, Charles Hicks, Joe Klecker and Amanda Vestri will all cover the 26.2 miles through the five boroughs on Sunday.

They will join already stacked elite fields that feature the likes of Eliud Kipchoge and Sifan Hassan. The elite women's race is slated to begin at 8:35 AM, with the men's elite race to follow at 9:05 AM.

Hillary Bor

Hillary Bor was formerly one of the best steeplechasers in American History. His 8:08.41 ranks him fourth fastest American man in history. He is a three-time US Champion and a 2021 Diamond League Champion, but he has recently traded in the steeples for the roads.

He has since won two US 10 Mile Championships and run a best of 59:55 over the half marathon distance. He finished third at the USA Half Marathon Championships this year and second at the USA 20k Road Running Championships in September.

Bor will make the leap to the full distance this weekend - with a lot of eager eyes watching to see what he can do.

Joe Klecker

Klecker made the full transition to the roads in 2025 and has found some moderate success in his first year.

He opened the year with a 1:01.06 at the Houston Half Marathon. He followed that performances with a 1:01:34 run to finish eighth at the US Half Marathon Championships.

A month later he ran 46:08 to finish fifth at the USA 10 Mile Road Running Championships.

Klecker will look to have a steady day in his marathon debut.

Amanda Vestri

Vestri has dabbled in the road disciplines and track disciplines in 2025 and has found success with both.

She finished fourth at the Houston Half Marathon with a 1:07:35 and then finished third at the US Half Marathon on March 2. She then won the Women's 6K National Road Title on July 12 before finishing eighth in the 10,000m at the USATF Championships.

Her marathon debut will be exciting to watch as she has a ton of potential to do big things on the road.

Charles Hicks

Hicks has had a quiet couple of years since winning the European U23 5K Title in 2023. That could change for Hicks as he is set to make his marathon debut in NYC.

This year, Hicks has finished fourth at the USA 4 Mile Road Running Championships and sixth at the Boilermaker 15k Road Race in Utica, NY.

That was the longest completed race of his career, so he has a long way to home in New York City.
