(And the patented Robby Andrews kick ...)

Robby Andrews is back!

Andrews follows up his 3:40 1500 last week at ACC's (finishing second to Florida State's Ciaran O'Lionaird) with a dazzling anchor leg on today's 4x800 at Penn Relays.

Andrews wrapped up a terrific team performance from the Cavaliers, as Anthony Kostelac and Lance Roller both ran solid 1:47 and 1:48 low legs, respectively. Furthermore, leadoff Brett Johnson handed off right with leaders Lionel Williams of Penn State and Dan Holst of UConn.

Another eye-opener was Casimir Loxsom's 1:46.70 anchor leg, after a terrific 400 leg on Penn State's sprint medley winning relay yesterday.

Texas A&M battled back valiantly, but could not overcome a 1:52 opening leg. Impressively, however, their final 3 legs were 1:47.46 or better, trying their best to climb back into the race.

The three squads would all receive the baton on their final legs together.  But Andrews, who seems to get better week after week, was too much on this day.  He led for the first 200 to 300 meters, then let Casimir Loxsom take the pace.  Andrews let a small gap develop that remained until the final 150 to 200 meters, but he pulled out his usual kick and blew past Loxsom with 50 to 80 meters left for the win.  Casimir ran a fantastic race to nearly claim the win for Penn State.

This seems to set the table for an epic battle between Andrews, Samoei (3:59 at the Drake Relays), and Charles Jock (1:45.19 at Mt. Sac) at NC's in several weeks!
