PORTLAND, Ore. — In a jaw-dropping 60m final, 20-year-old Trayvon Bromell claimed the World Indoor Championships victory in a blazing fast time of 6.47 Friday night at the Oregon Convention Center. Bromell is the youngest competitor to ever win the 60m gold at the World Indoor Championships. He was followed by Jamaica's Asafa Powell and Barbados' Ramon Gittens for silver and bronze, respectively.
Bromell blasted a personal best to overtake Olympic and World Champion Powell on his way to the top. With a roaring Portland crowd behind him, Bromell powered through the line and continued to run across the turn of the track in excitement after claiming his first World Championship title of his young career. The race was so close that the timers had to review the photo-finish of the final for several minutes after the competition ended. Eventually, it was confirmed that Bromell finished in 6.47 and was followed by Powell (6.50) and Gittens (6.51).
The performance is the new pro's first World Championship title of his career.

Bromell's performance followed a summer which included a bronze medal in the 100m at the World Outdoor Championships in Beijing where he tied for third with former NCAA rival Andre De Grasse of Canada. Bromell was just a college sophomore at the time, but decided to turn pro in the fall by signing with New Balance.
