In the span of four days, Canadian Corey Bellemore lowered the beer mile world record from 4:39.56 to 4:34.25. The 21-year-old shocked fans at the Beer Mile World Classic on Sunday to win the championship in the fastest beer mile ever recorded.
Last Thursday, before flying to London for the classic, Bellemore ran 4:39.56 solo on his home track in Windsor, Canada. The previous world record was 4:47 run by Lewis Kent at the FloTrack Beer Mile World Championships.
Four days after running 4:39, Bellemore took five more seconds off the mark in front of a roaring crowd in London.
In order to be considered as an official world record, Bellemore's mark must be ratified by the experts at Beermile.com.
According to Canadian Running, Bellemore's performance on Sunday was just his fourth beer mile ever. He competes for the University of Windsor and holds a 1500m personal best of 3:43 and an 800m PR of 1:47.
