Even if he is out of shape, I don't think it'll take him more than 5 months to get to a fitness level that he's reached in the past. He's probably still working on fundamental fitness, and is racing simply to train his mindset so that he doesn't race poorly when people pressure him. I hear he's had problems with that in the past since people expect so much out of him after his 3:53 high school mile. |

Actually, he is coming back. He's coming back from just getting married. He's overweight and out of shape. That's what marriage can do to you. Really, no disrespect. It's obvious he's not his old self, but I think he still has it in him to get back to where he was. With time. Unfortunately, as far as the Olympics go, time is not on his side. |

After watching that outburst at the finish I kind of feel bad for the guy too - he must just be in hell right now. |

nice webb, racing against ok collegiate runners to get some confidence back and faking a fall to not get your a$$ whooped. Webb's days ended the day he graduated high schoolIgnorance is bliss. Are you familiar with Webb's 2007 which included an American Record in the mile? The guy deserves respect for what he has done for American running. He would be a fool to take the advice of a bunch of internet trolls who's mile PRs are north of 4:20. |

I don't see any exageration in the fall. When you're going that fall and your leg doesn't come up when it should, you're in trouble. I feel soo bad for him. God bless him. |

Man, pretty tough to watch. Growing up he was THE american runner, and not just in the mile. His 1:43 was world class, and he ran 13:10 before we had all these americans running well at 5000. Reading a book now called sub 4:00 about him, and its almost sad reading about his triple at the high school state meet that he capped in a 1:49, and comparing it to where he is now. Really hope he can get it back together, an outstanding runner and a role model for so many people my age who grew up wanting to run like him. Hopefully he can find it again, but i've got to think at this point he's battling his mind just as much as his body. Not easy going out and running 1:55 when you used to be a 1:43 guy, but i give him credit for keeping at it. Cheering for a break through, hopefully we get to see it. |

I love this guy saying that he's works so hard to get where he is. Please the American record holder in the mile should be able to muster up something better than a 1:55 and 1:59 in practice. Call it a career Alan, before you embarrass yourself even more. |

Love the passion. People frown upon the yelling but he knows he can do better. Sometimes you just have to let it out. He'll be back competing. I have confidence. Great athlete |

It is really hard to believe some of these comments. I can't believe someone would actually say Alan Webb should end his career, I really doubt they even realize what they are saying. He has just come back, give him a break how else do you expect him to get back into the groove. |

why is Alan Webb running these races? Is he, Alan Webb, the American record holder in the mile, only capable of running around 1:55 and 1:59 (with a fall) now?? |
