2012 Invitational field to include: Auburn University, University at Buffalo, East Carolina University, Florida State University, George Mason University, University of Guelph (Canada), Georgetown University, Indiana University, Kent State University, Michigan State University, Ohio State University (W), Syracuse University, University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas (M), Virginia Tech, Wichita State University, Western Kentucky.
Highlights:
Men - Harry Adams of Auburn is currently the fastest sprinter in America. Some of the top men's milers are coming in from around the country, led by Pat McGregor from Texas. Paul Chelimo from UNC Greensboro is already an automatic qualifier in the 3,000. Pittsburgh 4x400 relay is the fourth fastest in the USA.
Women –Lots of great milers - Hannah Brooks from Florida State, Ashley Verplank from UNC and Amanda Winslow from Florida State will be coming. Michigan State's Rebecca Bucholtz is the #4 high jumper in the country. Buffalo's Rebecca O'Brien is the #4 Shot Putter in the country. Victoria von Enattan of Virginia Tech is one of the top three vaulters in the country.
Scholastic Meet: SPIRE will be hosting the inaugural SPIRE Scholastic Showcase meet immediately following the conclusion of the 2012 SPIRE Division I Track & Field Invitational. Top athletes from the area will compete in a championship atmosphere. All athletes registered for the meet receive free admission to Saturday’s Collegiate meet.
