Men's Triple Jump Updates--2012 London Olympics
Taylor and Claye go 1-2!!
Christian Taylor and US Teammate Will Claye had a showdown in the men's triple jump final today that came down to the final jumps in competition. Taylor, the 2011 World Champion had a season's best of 17.81. Claye, the 2012 World Indoor gold medalist followed his teammate for a great 1-2 finish. Claye jumped a 17.62, his outdoor personal best. Bronze was awarded to Fabrizio Donato of Italy with a distance of 17.48, the first Olympic medal for the fourth place finisher at 2012 World Indoor Championships.
Men's Triple Jump Final Updates:
USA's Will Claye leads the final group with his huge personal best this year of 17.70, which he hit in Istanbul at the 2012 World Indoor Championships when he took home the gold. After the long jump final where he took home the bronze medal, today's final competition will determine whether Claye will medal in both the long jump and the triple jump. His biggest competitor will be USA teammate Christian Taylor who is jumping with a season's best of 17.63. Taylor hit 17.63 at the 2012 World Indoor Championships and won the silver medal. He is also coming off of a 2011 World Championships gold medal in the triple jump.
