After competing in the 800m at the 2012 London Olympic Games, Khadevis Robinson made a major coaching switch from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas to The Ohio State University. Robinson will retain the same coaching duties at OSU, which will include head coach for the women’s cross-country and assistant coach for the women’s track and field team. At UNLV, Robinson had five runners make the 800m finals at the Mountain West Championship, one 800m Mountain West Conference Champion, and one qualifier for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

While at UNLV, Robinson coached standouts Kelsey Williamson and Brett Zorich towards improvements at 800m. Robinson converted Williamson from the 400m to the 800m, which lead her to a first place finish in the 800m at the 2012 Mountain West Conference and a qualifier for the NCAA West Preliminary. Zorich took second to Williamson in the 800m at the Mountain West Championship and placed 13th overall at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Robinson had a successful spring campaign as well as he ran 1:44.54 for 800m and made his second Olympic team.

The position provides Robinson an opportunity to coach at a university in a major conferences. Robinson told the OSU student newspaper The Lantern, “I’ve coached at almost every level… but I hadn’t coached at a big university. I like challenges and this will be a great challenge for me.”

Both the women’s cross-country and track and field team have the ability to succeed under Robinson’s guidance. The OSU women’s cross-country team looks to improve on their 9th at the 2011 Big Ten Championships and 6th at the 2011 NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The outdoor track and field team graduated their top two middle distance runners, Shaniqua McGinnis and Jordan Jennewine, but retain freshman talents Katie Betts and Katie Borchers. The lady Buckeyes look to continue their success under Robinson by retaining their Big 10 Outdoor Track and Field Champion this spring.
