USATF Foundation Announces Run With Us! Program
The USATF Foundation, a leading financial supporter of youth and elite track and field and distance running, is pleased to announce an activation of the Run With US! program in Austin TX.
The Run With US! program seeks to connect professional track and field athletes to millions of children across America to inspire and educate them about fitness and nutrition. The Run With US! will bring the power of athlete role models to kids through video and live appearances. The athletes participating in the Run With US! program will receive critical funding support from the Foundation.
This six week program will be held in Austin TX at the Helping Hand Home for foster children. Elite athletes will participate in the program to support the children as they learn healthy lifestyle skills. The following topics are scheduled for each session:
October 12: Goal setting and baseline mile run
October 19: Nutrition education and calorie burn relay
October 26: “Higher, Faster, Stronger”; Stories and Q&A with London Olympians
November 2: Making physical activity a priority, test progress, and repeat sprints
November 9: Introduction to field events and athlete demonstrations
November 16: Sustaining a love for being healthy and active; a mile run with Olympian appearance.
The mission of the USATF Foundation is to support track and field athletes and to facilitate the physical, educational, social and character development of youth track & field athletes and to help prepare them to mature and succeed in adult life. The goal of the foundation is to develop programs like this in other communities, supporting the growth of young people nationwide.
