Suspect Possibly Identified in Boston Bombings

According to CNN's John King, a suspect is believed to have been identified and arrested by authorities with a new video obtained with the help from a local television station.

A video from the local Lord and Taylor department store reportedly has clear facial recognition of the suspect carrying and dropping off the bomb bags at the scene of the second bomb explosion.

The Associated Press confirms an arrest has been made and the suspect will be brought to court.

Not much description of the individual has been released yet. King's source only disclosed the suspect as a "dark skinned male individual."

Earlier in the day CNN stated, "substantial progress" has taken place as we enter the third day of the investigation.

Authorities may reveal their findings as early as this afternoon. The media will be briefed at 5 p.m.

[2:00pm ET] A federal enforcement source told CNN's Fran Townsend that the arrest was made based on two videos showing images of the suspect. CNN and the AP have reported arrests, NBC and WSJ have not.

[2:30 pm ET] CNN has retracted its original report that an arrest has been made and a suspect is in custody.

[2:35 pm ET] Boston Police Department's Twitter account confirms there has not been an arrest made.

[2:55pm ET] The AP reports that "federal officials are denying that a suspect is in custody." The law enforcement official, who spoke on a condition of anonymity, was not authorized to divulge details of the investigation.
