English Gardner will forego senior year and go pro

University of Oregon sprinter English Gardner will forego her remaining NCAA eligibility and sign a professional contract after the NCAA Outdoor National Championships. Gardner made the announcement after the Ducks finished fourth in the women's 4x100-meter relay.

Gardner is coming off a junior year outdoor season in which Oregon won the indoor national championship and she won her second 100-meter outdoor title.

Her run of 10.96 was the third fastest by any collegiate runner ever and third fastest in the world for 2013.

The New Jersey native brought Hayward Field's crowd to their feet, just one day after silencing them as she limped off the track with right ankle inflammation. Expect her to be fully healthy and possibly in a new uniform at the United States Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on June 20.
