The Chase is Tonight for Jordan Hasay
While this morning may have been a dark day for track and field, it’s what could happen tonight that may provide the brightest news for this sad Sunday.

The chase is still on for Jordan Hasay. Tonight at 9:30pm PT, Hasay will attempt to obtain an IAAF standard in the 10k and qualify for the World Championships, which will be held next month.

Who: Jordan Hasay
What: The Chase for Jordan Hasay
When: 9:30pm PT
Where: Jesuit High School, Portland, OR
Why: Really? To make it to the World Championships
How: Watch live on Flotrack Pro

If Hasay runs either the “A” (31:45) or “B” standard (32:05), she’s on the team. Her destiny is solely in her hands. Since we're a bit of stat junkies, Ryan Fenton broke down the splits that Hasay needs to hit to run the "A."

Hasay’s new teammate, Tara Erdmann, will have to wait until after tonight to see what she needs to do to ensure that she’ll join the former Oregon star in Moscow. Erdmann, who finished third at the U.S. Championships, can guarantee her spot on the team if she runs the “A” standard.

This is where it gets tricky (we outline it here, in case you wanted to hear the explanation rather than read it). If Hasay runs the “B,” Erdmann must run the “A.” If Hasay runs the “A,” then Erdmann has to run the “B.”

However, the “A” apparently shouldn’t be too difficult for Hasay. Coach Alberto Salazar told Doug Binder of The Oregonian that, “[Hasay’s] in great shape. I believe 31:45 is an easy mark for her to get.”

Binder also reported that Erdmann will “try and beat that time later in the week.”

If you’re in the Portland area, admission to the meet is free. Head down to Jesuit High School to cheer like Alexi Pappas during a 10k.

It’s Hasay versus the clock. Can she do it? Find out tonight (or for some fans, tomorrow morning).
