Kara Goucher has withdrawn from the 2013 ING New York City Marathon with a foot injury, according to New York Road Runners. This would be the two-time Olympian's first race since her fifth place finish at the U.S. Championships 10k. Her last marathon was the 2013 Boston Marathon, where she finished sixth in 2:28:11.

Earlier this week, Goucher wrote a blog on RunTheEdge.com where she explains that the injury - a stress fractutre in her second metatarsal - started bothering her during after a 10.5 mile tempo run with teammate Shalane Flanagan. This ends Goucher's 2013 season, which she concludes was "not the year for me."

"My plan now is to get healthy," she added. "I would love to do some fall road races for fun, and as workouts to build my fitness as I come back from this injury.  And I am already looking forward to 2014."
