Four runners named finalists for US Sports Academy Athlete of the Year Honors
Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce vs. Serena Williams? Wilson Kipsang vs. LeBron James? Two female runners and two male runners were named finalists for the U.S. Sports Academy's Athlete of the Year Honors. 

Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce set a world leading time in the 100-meter dash en route to her gold medal at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow. She also went on to win gold in the 200-meter dash after Olympic champion Alyson Felix pulled up with a hamstring injury and defending world champion Veronica Campbell-Brown tested positive for a diuretic earlier in the year. 

The American record in the women's 100-meter hurdles was shattered by Brianna Rollins at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Her time of 12.26 is the third fastest of all time. The world record is in sight for the former Clemson Tiger.

On the men's side, Usain Bolt needs no intriduction. He lost the 2012 award to Michael Phelps. Due to his retirement*, Phelps is not nominated this year. Bolt has three world championship medals to his name from Moscow. Kenyan marathoner Wilson Kipsang is nominated after setting a new world record at the Berlin Marathon running 2:03.38.
