Genzebe Dibaba sets 2-mile world record
Absolutely astonishing.
Ethiopia's Genzebe Dibaba continued her unbelievable 2014 campaign at the British Athletics Sainbury's Indoor Grand Prix, where she smashed the women's indoor 2-mile world record. Dibaba's winning time of 9:00.48 broke the previous mark, held by Meseret Defar's of 9:06.28 from 2009.
In just a span of 14 days, Dibaba has set three world records. She first broke Abebe Aregawi's 1500m WR of 3:57.91 with her 3:55.17 win in Karlsruhe, Germany. Just five days later, she shattered Defar's 3000m WR of 8:23.72 with her 8:16.90 win in Stockholm, Sweden. Tonight in Birmingham, England, Dibaba has completed the world record hat-trick.
