Kara Goucher signs with Skechers
After weeks of speculation, American marathoner Kara Goucher is no longer shoeless. On Monday, Skechers announced the addition of the two-time Olympian to their performance division, which currently stars 2014 Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi. Goucher inked a deal with Oiselle in March.

In an exclsuve Interview with Runner's World, Goucher told Charles Butler, "I started meeting with Skechers back in December. They were actually the first company I met with when I realized I was a free agent.

"I really liked the people in the performance division a lot. They are really dedicated to the athlete. They don’t have a ton of athletes, but they live and breathe the athletes that they do have. They’re really proud of what they have done in a short time.”

A majority of athletes are outfitted by one sponsor from head to toe. Oiselle provides women’s running apparel but does not make shoes, which opens more than one door to sponsorship opportunities. Goucher is crossing into that non-traditional territory. Keflezighi is the prime example as he is sponsored by PowerBar, Sony, Oakley, Garmin and Elliptigo in addition to his shoe contract.

Goucher is currently rehabbing from a sacral stress fracture that sidelined her 2014 outdoor track plans. She hopes to recover in time for a fall marathon, where she will debut her new uniform and new shoes.

Goucher was in Palo Alto last night with the Oiselle group cheering on her fellow athletes at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational.
