For Immediate Release - KIMbia Athletics
BOSTON (June 17, 2015) – Newly minted NCAA women’s steeplechase champion Colleen Quigley of Florida State University and University of New Mexico All-American and Harvard University graduate Sammy Silva have joined KIMbia Athletics’ team of talented athletes. Both join KIMbia off successful collegiate campaigns, where both ran extremely well in both cross country and track and field.
Quigley, who most recently won the 3,000m steeplechase crown at the 2015 NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships, ranks as one of the top steeplechasers in collegiate history. Her winning mark of 9:29.32 ranks her third best all-time, sitting only behind Olympians Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn.
In addition to her steeplechase accomplishments, Quigley ran a top ten all-time collegiate mark in the mile during the 2015 indoor season, with a 4:29.67 best, while also owning a 4:11.61 personal best over 1,500m. The 22 year old St. Louis native is a six-time All-American on the track and three-time All-American in cross country.
She now sets her sights on the USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where she’ll look to make Team USA in the steeplechase.
For Silva, she joins KIMbia and the Bowerman Track Club with high hopes to continue improving off her successful time at New Mexico and Harvard. Silva finished twelfth at the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships, while earning second team All-American status in 2014 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Since joining the Bowerman Track Club earlier this year, Silva has lowered her 1,500m personal best by nearly five seconds, running 4:14.93 for 1,500m at the Payton Jordan Invitational. The La Mesa, California native joins KIMbia athletes Shalane Flanagan and Emily Infeld on the Bowerman Track Club.
In addition to athletes Quigley and Silva, KIMbia is proud to announce the addition of Alistair Cragg to its management team. Cragg was a seven-time NCAA champion at the University of Arkansas and three-time Olympian for Ireland.
