Galen Rupp CONFIRMED For FloTrack Throwdown Mile!

Galen Rupp setting the 10,000m American record in 2014

The men’s mile at the inaugural FloTrack Throwdown just got a lot more intriguing.

10,000m American record holder and Olympic silver medalist Galen Rupp will compete in the Throwdown mile this Saturday at Duniway Park in Portland, bringing his rare mix of speed and strength to the hometown meet.

Saturday’s mile will be Rupp’s one and only race this summer between USA’s and the World Championships, and his first outdoor mile in more than two years. The Oregon Project member won his seventh straight US 10K title in June and was third in the 5K, and will use the Throwdown as speed work for those events in Beijing.

The 29-year-old Rupp owns a 3:50.92 mile PR from 2013, which makes him the fastest in the field. Remember that race?...

Galen Rupp Quick Stats:
1500: 3:34.15 (2014)
Mile: 3:50.92 (2013)
