Sanya Richards-Ross Will Retire After 2016 Season
Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion Sanya Richards-Ross will make 2016 her last season. The 400m specialist announced her intention to retire on Instagram today.

Richards-Ross, 31, is the reigning Olympic champion over 400m and the fastest American of all time with a personal best of 48.70. After the 2012 Olympics, she needed surgery for a toe injury, and subsequently underwent her third foot surgery last November.

In 2015, she represented the U.S. at the IAAF World Relays, where she was a member of the world record-setting distance medley relay and victorious 4x400m relay. Later that year, she finished fifth in the 400m at the USATF Outdoor Championships, but was selected to compete on the 4x400m relay at the World Championships in Beijing. They brought back the silver medal. She will attempt to make her fourth Olympic team at the U.S. Olympic Trials this July.

Richards-Ross has yet to open up her 2016 season, but is a member of the USA vs. The World 4x400m relay pool for the upcoming Penn Relays, USATF announced today.
