How hot will it be at the Flo Golden South this Saturday, May 28? Well, the meet is in Clermont, Florida, but with four races (100m, 400m, 800m, mile) serving as automatic qualifiers for Brooks PR, the action on the track is set to be way spicier than anything the weather can throw at us!

The 11 must-watch races of the day!

1. BOYS 100m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Daniel Estrada, Shaun Shivers, Terence Ware, Jawan Miller
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Estrada, a two-time All-American and IAAF World Youth Championships finalist, is coming off a runner-up finish at the North Carolina state meet to Cravont Charleston, 10.4 to 10.38. He has the fastest seed and the experience needed to make his first Brooks PR roster. But Shivers of Florida is also highly motivated after placing second at the his state meet; the sophomore ran a season-best, wind-aided 10.47 (+2.8) at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

2. BOYS 110m HURDLES

Who: Damion Thomas, Braxton Canady, Brent Carroll
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: This event is not an automatic qualifier for Brooks PR, but it may be one of the best of the day. U.S. No. 2-ranked Thomas (pictured) is the defending Brooks PR 110m hurdles champion and enters here with a wind-legal best of 13.42 (-0.2) and a wind-aided best of 13.32 (+3.7). Could this be the year that two-time Olympic silver medalist Terrence Trammell's 13.34 meet record from 1997 goes down?

3. GIRLS 100m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Jayla Kirkland, Ka Tia Seymour, Amuru Patterson, Nia Lecky, Nia Flagg, Karimah Davis
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Kirkland (pictured) enters with the most big-league experience--she's a three-time New Balance Nationals champion and IAAF World Youth Championships bronze medalist. The only girls who beat her at the Cali, Colombia, championship last summer are now pros: Candace Hill and Khalifa St. Fort. She owns the fastest PR (11.33), but she'll have to work to fend off Florida state champions Ka Tia Seymour and Amaru Patterson, who swept the 100m and 200m in separate divisions at the state meet and own PRs under 11.6.

4. BOYS 200m

Who: Tyrese Cooper, Adrian Killins, Jaariq Charles, Terence Ware, Daniel Estrada, Jostyn Andrews
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: The big boys from the 100m return, plus two more studs: 200m and 400m national freshman record holder Cooper (pictured) and Texas 400m specialist Andrews. Cooper owns the fastest PR: 20.46. This event is not a Brooks PR qualifier, and will be contested for bragging rights after the 100m and 400m qualifier events.

5. GIRLS 200m

Who: Jayla Kirkland, Ka Tia Seymour, Amuru Patterson, Nia Lecky, Nia Flagg, Karimah Davis
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: All the top dogs from the 100m return for the 200m. Only one athlete can win the 100m and advance to Brooks PR, so expect to see some aggressive redemption runs here. Kirkland, Seymour, Patterson and Davis have all run under 24 seconds for 200m.

6. BOYS 400m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Tyrese Cooper, Brandon Cachon, Ryan Champlin
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Four athletes entered in this event have run under the 47-second barrier and one has broken 46 seconds: national freshman record holder Cooper, whose PR is a menacing 45.94. Cooper already has a Brooks PR invitation; can someone else steal this race for a trip to Seattle? UNC recruit Cachon recently won the Florida Class 3A 400m state title and said he's ready to dip under 46 seconds for the first time.

7. GIRLS 400m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Maiah Walker, Karimah Davis, Jan'Taijah Ford
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Walker is just a sophomore, but she ranks No. 5 in the U.S. right now with her region-winning time of 53.27. The Class 2A Florida state champion goes to Lake Wales High School, the alma mater of Golden South legend Octavious Freeman. She'll have to get by Class 3A state champ Davis, who has better 200m speed (23.93 to 24.13).

8. BOYS 800m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Justin Pacifico, Daniel Nixon, Harper Sigler, Yohance Haynes
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Defending Golden South 800m champion and Florida Class 4A 800m state champion Pacifico headlines this field with a PR of 1:51.87. Three more runners have PRs under 1:53: Alabama state champ Nixon, Georgia Olympics runner-up Sigler, and Florida Class 4A state runner-up Haynes.

9. GIRLS 800m -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Lynette Amaram, Jatana Folston, Brooke Turner
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: It could take a sub-2:10 to win this race. Texas Class 4A state champion Amaram (pictured) has run 2:11 twice in her career, while Folston is coming off a big four-second drop from 2:15 to 2:11.

10. BOYS MILE -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Frank Pittman, Dalton Hengst, Jake Shewbert, Steven Cross, Will Hunsdale, Matt McClellan
When: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule
Why: Pittman (pictured) must be considered the class of this field as he recently clocked a solo 4:08 1600m and won the adidas Raleigh Relays, a Dream Mile qualifier, in 4:13 over hotshot sophomore Hengst. But Maryland's Hengst finished ahead of him at New Balance Nationals Indoor, 4:11 to 4:18. Foot Locker finalist Cross has run 4:13 for 1600m and recently swept the 1600m and 3200m at the Florida Class 3A State Championship.

null

11. GIRLS MILE -- Brooks PR Qualifier!

Who: Ashton Endsley, Gabrielle Jennings, Rafaella GibbonsWhen: All Classic Division Events start at 5:30 p.m. EST on rolling schedule Why: This race is a battle of the southeast as the best of Texas (Endsley), Louisiana (Jennings) and Florida (Gibbons) fight for their first Brooks PR appearance. Junior Endsley (pictured) had a big breakthrough at the Texas state meet to take runner-up honors in the 3200m and fourth in the 1600m in the largest Class 6A; she has the fastest PR at 4:48 for 1600m. Jennings, a senior, owns a 4:52 PR for the full mile and recently closed her career as the most decorated prep athlete in Louisiana history with 44 state titles.
