THE TRIALS OF: Shalane Flanagan (Trailer)

Shalane Flanagan used to run like a kamikaze. She would run so hard trying to beat people that she wouldn't even finish races. Shalane had to change her training. She now holds American records including the indoor 3K and 5K, as well as the 10K - a race in which she captured the Olympic bronze medal. Her next challenge: pushing herself to the next level of endurance, and qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in the marathon.

Shalane Flanagan Workout

Pre-2008 Olympic Trials Shalane Flanagan Workout (June 2008)

Flanagan had her sights set on the 5K at the 2008 Olympic Trials.....that was before she became the American record-holder in the 10K. With Eugene just over three weeks away, many people wondered which event would be her strongest. Did you ever think about her doing both?

Either way, this workout in Colorado Springs will show you that you need more than just intervals and miles to make it to the top.
