Galen Rupp finished fifth in the Olympic 10,000m final last night, which further cemented himself as one of the best 10,000m runners in the world not named
Galen Rupp finished fifth in the Olympic 10,000m final last night, which further cemented himself as one of the best 10,000m runners in the world not named Mo Farah.
If you look at the past four global championships Rupp has had the most success in the event, only behind his Nike Oregon Project teammate Farah. If you shorten that time span to only the past three championships or only the past two championships, Rupp is the third best 10k runner in the world.
Fans love to rate a runner's success solely on medal count, but that doesn't tell the full story. If you look past the athlete's finish and recognize their consistency over the years, Rupp has been one of the best in the world. No question.
