ON THE RISE: Allie Ostrander

Released circa November 2014

Allie Ostrander emerged as a distance-running prodigy on the remote Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. A three-time state cross country champion and 10:03 two-miler on the track as a high schooler, Ostrander's rise from prep phenom to U.S. Olympic Trials competitor has intrigued a nation. In this 2014 film, we followed Ostrander as she trained in the harsh Alaskan climate and terrain prior to her first cross country national championship meet, Nike Cross Nationals, in Portland, Oregon.

THE PROGRAM: Colorado

Two years ago, we followed the No. 1-ranked Colorado Buffaloes as they prepared to defend their NCAA cross country title. 2014's team was touted as the best Colorado squad ever, which was quite the statement considering the long history of success Coach Mark Wetmore has enjoyed: six national titles in 20 years; four on the men's side, and two on the women's. Now, an aura surrounds the man who has led so many teams to the promised land. As we followed the Colorado men in their build-up to a title defense, we sought to define the Wetmore factor and witness it in action.

AWAY FROM HOME: New Mexico

The New Mexico Lady Lobos have built a NCAA powerhouse with a combination of international superstars and domestic talent. Joe Franklin's 2015 squad figured to be particularly formidable, as two new transfers instantly made them title contenders—including Courtney Frerichs, who would go on to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

In 2013, we wanted to see if perennial DII powerhouse Adams State could once again go head to head with the big dogs of DI.

We traveled to Alamosa, Colorado, the home of the Grizzlies, to try and answer two simple questions.

1. How does Coach Damon Martin get kids to come to Adams State?
2. Why are the Grizzlies so good?
