Sydney McLaughlin Breaks High School 300m Record In 36.82
Competing at the Armory's Artie O'Connor College Invite, high school senior Sydney McLaughlin won the women's 300 meters in 36.82 seconds, breaking Francena McCorory's 11-year-old national record. Since 2015, McLaughlin had run 37.09, 37.11, and 37.49, which before tonight were the second, third, and fourth fastest times on the high school all-time list.
The old record was 36.96. McCorory also used to own the high school indoor 400m record, but McLaughlin broke that last year.
When we last spoke to McLaughlin, she was disappointed after not breaking the record at Millrose. She's all set now.
