- London has the third-fastest World Marathon Major course record. Eliud Kipchoge set the course record of 2:03:05 last year, which is eight seconds shy of Dennis Kimetto's world record set at the 2014 Berlin Marathon.
- Behind Berlin, London has the second-fastest average of top 10 men's performances in major marathons.
- The women's world record of 2:15:25 was run by Paula Radcliffe at the 2003 London Marathon.
- Paula Radcliffe is also considered the fastest marathon runner based on the average of her top five performances. Her 2:15:25 world record, her 2:17:18 victory in Chicago (2002), her 2:17:42 victory in London (2005), her 2:18:56 victory in London (2002), and her 2:20:57 victory in Helsinki (2005) combine for an average of 2:18:04.
- The London Marathon has the fastest average of top 10 women's performances in major marathons. The average of top 10 performances is 2:18:59.
