Just weeks after breaking the collegiate record in the decathlon, Texas A&M's Lindon Victor improved on the top score yet again.

Victor completed the decathlon in a combined score of 8,539 points to better his own record of 8,472 on the second day of competition at the SEC Outdoor Championships on Friday afternoon. He broke Trey Hardee's 11-year-old NCAA record at the Texas Relays in March.

Victor lowered his own score with a historic second day of competition in Columbia, SC, highlighted by personal bests in the 110m hurdles and the discus. He jumped ahead of the competition with a 4.70m clearance in the pole vault, which put him well ahead of record pace.

He ultimately clinched the record with stellar performances in the javelin (68.97m) and the 1500m, where he crossed the finish line in 4:55.91 for a final point total that improved upon his previous best by 67 points.

Prior to the start of the 2017 outdoor season, the NCAA record had been broken a total of three times in the last 31 years, according to the USTFCCCA. If Victor continues to improve at his current pace, he could match that number in four weeks at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
